Which is the best video game platform and what game do you recommend as the best for a 13 year old girl?

I love video games but I am more of a hard core gamer and my cousin likes to watch me while I play, so I want to give her a cool video game for her birthday. Her mom (my aunt) says she will buy the platform if I help her decide which one. Any advice?

I’d say a Wii. I own an Xbox 360 though. Playstation 3 is best for sports games (with Xbox 360 being a close second). Xbox 360 is good for fighting, RPG, and action. Wii is good for all around family fun games.

I’d say it’s a toss up between the Wii and PS2. They are also less expensive than other choices.

I like the Wii for being a fun all around family console, which is backwardly compatible with Game Cube games (with a game cube controller plugged in). Most of the games are kid/Mom friendly and Mom may find herself playing it too :) . It’s the most kid friendly console among the big name makers. The graphics are less impressive than the others, but the motion controls are fun (especially with Wii Sports).

It may be a bit ‘elderly’ but the PS2 (not PS3) has a TON of titles out, a great many of them are kid friendly, and is backwardly compatible with old PS1 titles. She also can get a lot of the games as pre-owned for less. There are also some good titles out for serious gamers on the console. It’s only fault is that it’s from the previous generation of platforms.

The PS3 is really more hardcore gamer focused right now, since they are the driving force behind new hardware. There is some backward compatibility with PS2 titles, but they must be downloaded I believe.

The Xbox 360 has some good kid friendly choices now it’s been out on the market for a while. Like the Ps2 and Ps3, there is an optional online feature (for multiplayer games that support it), or more than one person can play on the same console. It also has a lot of titles and is backwardly compatible with 95% of the original Xbox titles, but only if you have an internet connection, or get the updates online or order the update discs by mail: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/backwardscompatibility.htm
