I think gaming is good for the imagination and hand/eye coordination. But only in small amounts. 1-2 hours most per day. Physical fitness is always more important.
I don’t really think about it. I wouldn’t let it bother you too much. At least their safe, and not causing trouble
to much time indoors will lead to overweight and to much games will cause the kids to not be very creative in the real world
I don’t have an objection to some game play… as long as its balanced with outdoor activities and exercise of some sort… no need for couch potatoes. Some games, like DDR, actually have exercise as part of the game!
they should get jobs
Well, being someone who practices this method of life everyday.. it’s ok!!! if they don’t become angry or have mood changes then it is perfectly fine to have them play video games all summer!!! but if they start to “lose it” then take it away for a day to two(maybe a week) then try it again!!!!!
I think it is bad. That’s why our children are fat and lazy. When I was growing up I had video games but my parents made me and my sibs go outside and play as well. Video games are not bad if you just watch your children and not let it become your babysitter.
I think it’s okay in Free time only. Take me for example. I hold a job, do sports, and have to go to school for 180 days of the year, but if I have any free time and have nothing going on, my 360 and Wii are fun as hell.
Kids staying indoors and playing video games can do both bad and good things. First of all, you are not spoiling them unless they stay in all day long. They can take advantage of the fact and want to grow up to be couch potatoes. Get them out a little. Let them enjoy the sun and sports. Take them to the beach for some exercise and swimming. Kids love doing this kind of thing. But, video games can challenge the mind and make kids think more about things. Therefore, make sure your kids do not stay in all day and be lazy. They can suffer from anemia.
As long as they’re not there all day I see nothing wrong with it. Your spelling, on the other hand, is terrible. Maybe you should apologize to your kids for having such suspicions about their activities without being able to spell the word spoiled.
Good and bad, moderation is key. Videogames make them smart with hand/eye coordination, logic, thinking, but, you have to be concerned about rest of their health. The brain is getting a good exercise, but not the rest of the body. I’m a gamer, but my job is extremely physical, so I keep in shape.
I would say, let them game for like 2 hours a day, outside for 1 hour doing sports, not just sitting on a park bench or something.
As a gamer myself, I of course support gaming.
However, I do believe there should be a line. The stereotype of kids sitting in front of television sets, like a zombie, is unfortunately true to a degree.
If gaming begins to pose any of a problem on their life, that’s when I think some sort of action should be taken.
i dont like that a bit…i think kids should go out and play in a park or a playground…
they can play video games, but for limited time…same as kids can go out to play but for certain amount of time.(cause its not good that kids spends all the time outside, there’s lot of danger outside too, eg drugs, etc)
eveything has a limilt and parents should decide who much time should they spend on video games, outside and watching tv…
I’m one of them. XD I think it’s nice, as long as it’s controlled. If it makes them happy and opens their mind to look at the world in a different (non-negative way), like when playing games like Brain Age, it’s not as bad as some portray it to be. At the same time, video games are addicting to the point where people are sacrificing their real lives to immerse themselves in the games.
They (the game makers) could try to make a limit where the player automatically exits a game if it’s been on for longer than a couple hours. Plus, though games also contain blood and gore and the like, it’s up to the parents of the affected child/teen to know which games he/she is playing.
Gaming also drains time and money, and there are better ways to have fun. Yet, we (including myself) still spend so much time on games. Are we a doomed generation? Maybe. On this part, I’m not quite sure.
I wouldn’t say that kids are getting spoiled by them but … being taught by the parents allowing them to play video games all day that being lazy is okay. We all have our moments but that is all some teenagers and younger do. They go to school, work and play video games. My concerns are that the youth will loose connection with the real world and be too lost to care about having actual human relationships. I see nothing wrong with kids playing video games that aren’t overly violent a little bit, studies have shown that they have better hand-eye coordination from a limited amount of play but too much just breeds stupidity about what happens outside of the games. Violence and sexual content are also huge concerns. I think that the video game world needs some reform, they have gone way too far. Playing indoors is fine, some kids don’t like the sun that much or burn easily or whatever but still love to play around and be kids. Just get them outside some times- bbq’s are good ways to get them out, haha.
Ok here we go. Video games have now become common culture in todays society. They have pratically replaced Barbie and GIJoe. As far as kids staying in and playing, no I do not think it should be everything a kid does during the day.
My daughter is 5 and is currently using a leap pad and a vtech handheld gaming/learning system. She uses it in the car when we go on trips, and when she is bored. She also plays on my 360. I do try to moderate it so that she gets out. My main concern is health than her repeating anything she sees or does in a game. My family has always had issues with weight from a sedentary lifestyle. So as long as they do have other activities they should be ok.
personally, i think it sucks. i go over and over this again with my husband. i went out with a friend today only to come home and find the kids in the same place they’d been in before i left, playing the same video game! i really hate that. in terms of concerns, i truly think it can hurt their eyes. sometimes my son complains that his eye is hurting really badly and i really think it has a lot to do with the amount of time he spends computing, gaming, and televisioning ( is that a word? oh well… you know what i mean) it just seems to become the source of yet another argument for my husband and i so just don’t say anything about it anymore. but who is going to suffer? my kids… i try to get in as many extra curricular activities as i can. stuff that can be done out of the house. limiting game play is a good idea, but it is best just not to even be in the house sometimes, to get involved in something that takes you away from the electronic devices. more importantly than spoiling them, i don’t think they get enough exercise, so i’ve enrolled mine in martial arts, golf and swimming is next. there once was a time you could send them outside to play, but the safety of that is gone now. sorry to ramble on… just some ideas. hope that helped.
no more than 1-2 hours, dont make em lazy.
